Foxes are not only beautiful animals, they are also important to the ecosystem. In Germany, more than 400,000 foxes are hunted and killed every year. We support an organization that campaigns against the abolition of fox hunting.

  • Foxes have very well developed hearing and can hear sounds from up to 600 feet away.
  • Foxes can run up to 30 miles per hour, which helps them chase prey and outrun enemies.
  • Foxes are omnivores and will eat a variety of things such as berries, fruits, squirrels, rabbits, mice and even carrion.
  • Foxes are able to regulate their body temperature and can adapt to extreme temperatures.
  • Foxes have very keen senses and can even perceive the earth's magnetism, which helps them hunt.

Size

Foxes vary in size by species and sex. Here are some size examples:

  • Red foxes, which are the most widespread fox species, can grow up to 90 cm in length, including the tail, and weigh between 3 and 14 kg.
  • Arctic foxes, also known as Arctic foxes, are smaller than red foxes, reaching around 50 to 60 cm in body length, including the tail. They weigh between 1.4 and 9 kg.
  • Fennec foxes, which live in the Sahara desert and North Africa, are the smallest species of foxes, reaching a body length of only about 20 to 40 cm, including the tail. They weigh between 0.7 and 1.6 kg.

In general, male foxes are larger than females. Foxes have a slender build and long legs that help them run and jump quickly.
