Koalas live exclusively in specific eucalyptus forests along Australia's east coast. Deforestation, climate change, and urban sprawl are increasingly destroying their habitat and threatening their survival.

Koalas belong to the order of marsupials and are the only surviving representatives of the family Phascolarctidae.

In the wild, koalas live for about 10 to 15 years, with males generally having a slightly shorter lifespan than females.

Koalas reach a body length of 60 to 85 cm and weigh between 4 and 14 kg depending on region and sex – males are usually significantly larger and heavier than females.
