• A hummingbird needs to feed on nectar every 10 to 15 minutes, except at night. When they sleep, hummingbirds go into a state of rigidity, slowing their heart rate from 1,200 to 20 beats per minute.
• Some species can dive at speeds of up to 98 km/h.
• At 6 cm, the bee sprite is the smallest bird in the world.
• Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly in place, sideways & even backwards.
