  • Octopuses have three hearts and can move by pumping water through their bodies.
  • Some species of Kraken can eject ink through tiny pores in their skin to blind or confuse enemies.
  • Kraken have eight arms, each of which can move and control independently.
  • Some species of octopus have suction cups on their arms so powerful they can even grab glass.
  • Octopuses have a highly developed nervous system comparable to that of mammals.

habitat

Octopuses feel particularly at home in the Mediterranean, but they can be found in all seas where there is enough salt.

There are around 200 different species of octopus and more than 500 species of squid in the world.

lifespan

Some octopus species have extremely short lifespans, dying after just a year, while other species can live for several years.

Size

Octopus sizes vary by species, but some species can grow to be quite large. The giant octopus, for example, can reach a wingspan of up to 4 meters and weigh over 75 kg. Other species, like the Pacific deep-sea octopus, are much smaller, only reaching about the size of an orange.
