  • Sea turtles regularly surface to breathe, but can sleep underwater for 4 to 7 hours by slowing down their metabolism and heartbeat. There can be up to 9 minutes between two heartbeats.
  • They use the Earth's magnetic field and ocean currents for orientation, determining their travel routes.
  • The leatherback turtle can dive up to 1000 meters deep, holding the record among sea turtles.
